Test your first employee check-in

Verify GPS check-in end to end before rolling out to the whole team.

Overview

A quick test with one employee confirms invitations, assignments, GPS, and dashboard visibility before wider rollout.

Before you start

  • At least one work area exists with correct address and geofence.
  • One test employee is invited, signed in, and assigned to that work area.
  • The employee is physically near the site (or you accept an outside-geofence warning for a remote test).

Step-by-step

  1. On the employee phone, open Crewly and allow location if prompted.
  2. From Home, start Check In, select the work area, take the required photo if prompted, and confirm.
  3. On the web dashboard, open Check In/Out History or Dashboard and confirm an open session appears.
  4. Ask the employee to Check Out when finished, then confirm the session closed with a duration.

What happens next

If the test succeeds, invite remaining staff and assign them to the relevant work areas.

Common problems

  • Home still shows Not checked in — wait 10–15 seconds and pull to refresh; do not tap Check In again.
  • Site missing — employee not assigned to the work area.
  • Outside geofence warning — expected if GPS is weak or the tester is not on site; the check-in can still be saved.
